Your quote request was submitted. We will normally reply within one business day. No payment has been collected and no search has started.
Simple process
- Request and quote. Submit your prefix. We review it, confirm capacity, and email a written quote valid for 14 days.
- Pay the deposit. Pay the deposit in Bitcoin. We start after the payment receives six confirmations on the Bitcoin network.
- We search. The job runs until it finds a key or reaches the price limit in your quote.
- Pay or receive a refund. After we find a key, we calculate the total from the actual search work. We collect any remaining payment or refund any overpayment. We release the encrypted key after the remaining payment receives six confirmations.
Pay for actual search work, with a clear price limit
How pricing works
For 10- or 11-character prefixes, the total is a $399 base fee plus $25 per 100 trillion possible onion addresses checked, prorated to actual work.
You pay 50% of the quoted price limit upfront; when we find a key, we collect the balance or refund any overpayment. If the limit is reached without a key, we stop: you owe nothing more, the deposit is not refunded, and continuing requires a prepaid extension. Cancellation after the search starts is also nonrefundable.

For 10- and 11-character orders, we count the different candidates searched until the first valid result. We do not charge for pauses, operator delays, or work after a result. Only the quote we email authorizes the search. The invoice lists the candidates searched, unit price, deposit, remaining payment or refund, and Bitcoin transaction references.
Search time is random and has no fixed maximum
A search may finish immediately or take much longer than the estimate. Running for the average time gives about a 63.2% chance of success. Running for three times the average gives about a 95% chance. Each additional character multiplies the search work by 32.

Calculator basis
The calculator uses a recorded estimate of our current search capacity and standard probability math. Displayed times round up to whole units. Faster software may reduce delivery time without changing the candidate price. We do not change the timing or pricing in an accepted quote.
When search timing begins
The search-time estimate begins when all search workers are ready and the search starts. It does not begin when you submit the request form. We start only after you accept the quote and your Bitcoin deposit receives six confirmations. We will email you when the search starts.
At our current capacity, the estimated average search time is about two hours for 10 characters and three days for 11 characters. A 10-character search has a 95% chance of success within about five hours; an 11-character search has a 95% chance within about seven days. These times do not include quote review, payment confirmation, preparing search capacity, secure delivery, or customer response time.
Security and private-key handling
We temporarily hold your private key. We generate the key and can access it during generation and delivery. You must trust us not to keep or misuse it, and you must accept that our systems could be compromised. During this time, you are not the only party that can technically access the key.
Before payment, your written quote states how we confirm payment instructions, encrypt delivery, recover the key if needed, and delete our copy.
A memorable prefix does not replace verification of the complete onion address.
Before payment, choose how we will confirm that the payment instructions and your delivery key are genuine. Options include a second communication channel, an encrypted messenger, voice confirmation, or—after our business key is published—OpenPGP-signed email. Later changes must use the method you chose.
If a key is lost, corrupted, or known to be compromised before confirmed delivery, we discard it and rerun at our expense; completion time remains random. If we later learn a delivered key was exposed while in our custody, we notify you, advise immediate rotation, assist with replacement, and rerun at our expense.
What you receive
- The complete public onion address and Tor-formatted private-key files.
- A record confirming that the address and key were checked.
- Encrypted transfer to an agreed
ageor OpenPGP public key. - A deletion-complete notice after the recovery window.
Payment and key-handling terms
- Quotes and Bitcoin invoices expire 14 calendar days after issue.
- We start the search and release key material only after the relevant Bitcoin payment has six confirmations.
- You may cancel before the search starts and receive the deposit less Bitcoin network fees. After it starts, the initial payment is not refundable. Bitcoin network fees are never refunded.
- If we find a key before the price limit, the candidates searched determine the total. We collect any remaining payment or refund any overpayment.
- If the search reaches the price limit without finding a key, we stop. You owe nothing more, and the deposit is not refunded.
- You may buy additional search work at the same candidate price. An extension is paid in full before the search continues and normally provides enough work for another 95% chance of success. There is no second base fee. If we find a key before using all of the extension, we refund the unused work. If an extension finishes without finding a key, its payment is not refunded.
- If our failure prevents delivery after payment, choose a no-cost rerun or a refund for the undelivered order. We do not rerun indefinitely without your approval.
- When a key is ready but remains unclaimed or unpaid, we hold it for at most 60 days after the readiness notice and then delete it; the initial payment is not refunded.
- After confirmed encrypted delivery, we retain the key for a seven-day recovery window and then delete our copy.
Acceptable use
We review every requested prefix and may refuse impersonation, phishing, trademark abuse, or unlawful use. The form accepts only lowercase letters a–z and digits 2–7. It cannot start a search or run commands on our systems. Work begins only after approval and verified payment. The Tor Project also warns vanity prefixes can create impersonation risk.
Formspree processes form submissions for spam screening and email delivery. Cloudflare and our web server process normal website request information.
